Bamboo Garden is a slightly abstracted yet naturalistic painting depicting the wild Sasa Palmate bamboo that grew beside my house. Inspired by a black-and-white photo, I took creative liberties in colorizing both the plants and background.

The foreground bamboo leaves are rendered with intricate detail and vibrant chromatic colors, gradually transitioning to increasing abstraction in the midground and background to evoke a dreamy, imaginative quality. For the first time, I incorporated encaustic wax, primarily in the lower foreground, to enhance and encapsulate this ethereal, dream-like essence throughout the composition.
